IHCL Debuts in Meghalaya with Vivanta Meghalaya, Shillong – Hotel Magazine

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), the largest hospitality company in India, has expanded to the North Eastern state of Meghalaya with the grand opening of Vivanta Meghalaya, Shillong. Hidden in the heart of the state’s capital, the stylish hotel brings the beauty of the hills of Shillong to life.

“This hotel is in line with IHCL’s commitment to the Northeastern part of India,” said Mr Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO of IHCL. “As pioneers of putting new destinations on the global tourism map, IHCL is proud to step into Shillong, known for its natural beauty as well as its distinctive culture, with the handover of the hotel to IHCL today. With the addition of Vivanta Meghalaya, Shillong, which will open to guests soon, IHCL strengthens its presence in the region and further elevates its tourism potential.”

With 101 rooms and suites, Vivanta Meghalaya is located amid the city’s popular tourist district, with easy access to many dining and shopping outlets. Drawing inspiration from the rolling hills and pine forests, the hotel’s design is a nod to Meghalaya, also known as the ‘abode of clouds’. The hotel’s young and vibrant vibe is further raised by Mynt, the all-day diner, which serves an eclectic mix of global and local favourites. Meanwhile, the Wink bar features a classic design that makes it the perfect spot for guests to indulge in an evening of cocktails and conversations. This hotel’s meeting room and banqueting space are ideal for meetings and social gatherings.

Apart from the region’s kaleidoscopic beauty, rich history and cultural heritage, Shillong is well known for the Cherry Blossom Festival, which is held in November every year. The capital city of Meghalaya is fast emerging as an important educational hub.

With the addition of this hotel, IHCL has grown its network to nine hotels in North East India, including four under development.
